Hills and Waters
The Fuchun River flows 110 kilometers through Zhejiang Province. The upper course of the Qiantang River, it is renowned for its lush scenery and balanced ecology. The banks of the Fuchun River are dotted with villages and towns steeped in local traditions. This beautiful landscape was captured in “Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains,” one of the most celebrated paintings in ancient Chinese history.
“Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains” was painted by the Yuan Dynasty’s Huang Gongwang (1269-1354). While being handed down over the generations, the painting was divided into two parts that are now housed separately in the Zhejiang Provincial Museum and the Taipei Palace Museum.
The length of Fuchun River in the region of Fuyang is 52km. It has beautiful landscape that is unique all over the world. In general, the landscape of Fuchun has its own features: two mountains “guard” one river. It consists of three parts: river in the middle, mountains along the riverbanks, and river valleys. With the river, mountains and fields well arranged, the landscape of Fuchun is just like a scroll of delicate painting.
Clear waves are undulating in Fuchun River all year round. Bamboos and trees are growing luxuriantly in the mountains along the evergreen riverbanks. Green mountains perfectly integrate with clear waters, making people feel fresh and comfortable all year round.
