Zhijiang Culture Town had a production value of about 0.5 billion in 2015. With China Academy of Art settling in Zhijiang, the Town, relying on its plain impression, abundant historic and cultural connotation, good public facilities and beautiful environment, has attracted numerous artists, designers and artistic organizations to take root here. In 2010, the West Lake District united with China Academy of Art to apply for the title of national university science park to Ministry of Science and Technology, and then it became the first national university science park mixing creativity and science technology in the country.

In 2015, with Zhejiang Conservatory of Music settling in Zhijiang, West Lake District (Zhijiang National Tourist Holiday Resort) together with China Academy of Art and Zhejiang Conservatory of Music carried out the new round of cooperation to fully exert the artistic talent resource of the two academies and the advantages of cultural innovation of Zhijiang District and, on the basis of original National University Science (Creative) Park of China Academy of Art, to jointly built up “a town of art and creativity” through cooperation.
