Qiantang River Bridge is located nearby Six Harmonies Pagoda, Hangzhou, Zhejiang. It stretches across Qiantang River with the north bank at the east foot of Er’long Mountain and the south bank at Shangsha Port, Lianzhuang Village, Puyan Sub-district, Binjiang District. Being the first self-designed and self-built two-tier highway and railway bridge in China, Qiantang River Bridge is a steel-structured truss bridge with an overall length of 1,453m, a width of 9.1m and a height of 71m.
The design and construction of the bridge was led by MAO Yisheng, famous Chinese bridge expert. The project started in April 1935 and finished on 26th September, 1937. It is not only a great achievement in Chinese bridge history, but a splendid milestone in Chinese railway bridge history.
