Chanyuan Temple, one of the famous temples in Zhejiang, is the ashram of Bodhisattva Veda. The mountains surrounding the temple create beautiful and quiet environment. Numerous eminent monks were cultivated in this temple through ages, spreading the Buddha dharma of Linji Sect as far as Japan. During the period of Anti-Japanese War, Chanyuan Temple offered space for No. 1 Senior High School of Zhejiang. Zhejiang University also moved here for a short term.
