Fuchun River
Stork Mountain
Located at the side of Fuchun River, east of the urban area of Fuyang, Stork Mountain has a height of 42.9m and an area of 3.46 hectares. It is surrounded by water at three sides. As a first-class scenic spot of “Fuchun River – Xin’an River – Thousand-Island Lake” National Level Scenic Area, Stork Mountain is honored as the “Famous Cultural Mountain of East China”.

Stretching from the bank to the center of river, Stork Mountain, which has steep cliffs, looks like a stork bending down at the riverside. That’s how the name Stork Mountain comes from. There’re luxuriant trees and scattered pavilions in the mountain. Tourists can pay a visit to historical sites such as “The First Tower of Fuchun River” built during Tongzhi Period in Qing Dynasty, Songyun Villa where modern litterateur YU Dafu and his elder brother, jurist YU Mantuo, supported their mother, fishing terrace of YAN Ziling (famous scholar in Eastern Han Dynasty), Autumn Moon of Tortoise River, and Donggong Temple. Besides, there’s a fishing spot at YAN Ziling Administrative District. Since the rock projects toward the center of the river, river water swirls here and forms a pool, attracting large quantities of fishes. This place thus becomes an ideal site for fishing.
