The complex is located on the southern bank of the Qiantang River. According to the plan, the entire project covers a total area of 5.84 square kilometers, and its core section occupies a gross floor area of 2.7 million square meters. The complex includes the China International Expo Center (840,000 m2, with 7,500 international standard exhibition booths), an 80,000-seat main stadium, a 10,000-seat tennis court (530,000 m2 ), a 1,800- seat gymnasium, a 6,000-seat natatorium (397,000 m2 ), as well as a multi-use training facility (180,000 m2 ). Once completed, the Olympic and International Expo Center will be a large urban venue hosting conferences, exhibitions, sporting events, and leisure activities. 
The construction of Hangzhou Olympic and International Expo Center is the iconic project of Hangzhou striding forward from “West Lake Age” to “Qiantang River Age”. The construction of Hangzhou Olympic and International Expo Center is of great significance to improvement of sports life quality, cultural life quality, economic life quality and environment life quality of Hangzhou citizens. The Hangzhou Olympic and International Expo Center after completion will face with iconic building group including Hangzhou International Conference Center and Hangzhou Grand Theatre entitling “shine forever like the sun and the moon” in core area of Qianjiang New City, etc. across the river and echo with each other from south to north, which will not only undertake intercontinental and nationwide large-scale sports events and international high-level conference, but also become the large-scale urban complex featuring sports and expo and integrating culture, commerce & trade, travel, habitancy, performance, food, relaxation, vacation, shopping and other functions into a whole.
