Dongpo Road Community

The Song Dynasty writer and statesman Su Dongpo (1037– 1101) twice worked as an official in Hangzhou and was deeply loved by the people. The city named Dongpo Road in his honor. The residential area where the road is located is called the Dongpo Road Community.
A well-known social group in the community, the Ground Calligraphy (Dishu) Association was formed by calligraphy lovers in the area. Weather permitting, they are out on the plazas in the community and at West Lake, using homemade brushes dipped in lake water to practice Chinese calligraphy on the ground. These mostly retired Hangzhou citizens write their way into their high-spirited and beautiful golden years. 
Dongpo Road Community has a dense historical building and thick cultural atmosphere. The community, making an issue around “Cultural Dongpo”, utilizing the existing hardware resources, has reconstructed and repaired relevant cultural hardware and established the pattern of “Dongpo Cultural Park”, “Dongpo Cultural Gallery” and “Dongpo Pavilion” and made the hardware of Dongpo Cultural Park of the Community gain a significant development.
Taking the experience of quality cultural life of lakeside community as main line, integrate the community’s historic culture and urban folk culture life into a whole. Focus on tasting the connotation of expansion from “Museum & society co-building culture” to “Hangzhou fine community tourism demonstration base” and experience “Travel of Dongpo Culture” through interactive projects.
