Zhejiang Art Museum, located in lakeside of West Lake in Nanshan Road of Hangzhou, adjoins to Wansong Mountain and covers an area of 35,000m² including a building area of 32,000m². Zhejiang Art Museum was officially opened to the public in August 2009. Since the museum is opened, it has always persisted in the museum-establishment direction of “Aim at contemporary era, give consideration to history, based on Zhejiang, face the world” and the academic tenet of “Publicity, diversity, openness”, regarding “Chinese style” as its own style pursuit, and has successfully held a big batch of outstanding exhibitions including “Exhibition of Art Works with Great Historic and Cultural Significance of Zhejiang”, “Chinese Glory - Huang Binhong Art Exhibition” and “Hangzhou • Biennial Exhibition of Chinese Painting”, etc. In 2015, it became the important national art museum.
Zhejiang Art Museum focuses on enshrining and exhibiting the works, cultural relics and literatures of artists in modern times, especially those born in Zhejiang and have important art activities in Zhejiang, reflecting the development history of Zhejiang art. At present, it has possessed near 20,000 art collections of different kinds.
