Tangqi, to the northern part of Hangzhou City, is located in the southern end of the world cultural heritage, Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. It is not only the water gate of Hangzhou for various dynasties, but also the top of 10 famous towns in southern China during Ming and Qing Dynasties.
Tangqi scenic area preserves precious historical resources of Guangji Bridge, Emperor Qianlong’s Imperial Tablet, Guopu Well, three and a half lanes, etc., and develops cultural exhibition halls of Granary Museum, Grand Canal World Heritage Museum, Yuhang Local History Museum, etc.
The first tourism product, North Style Street is located in the north of Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, typical of the old streets in Ming and Qing Dynasties, transmitting Tangqi historical and cultural heritage, showing Tangqi folk customs. Across the river is the South Leisure Street; according to the development orientation of “History on the left bank, future on the right bank”, it leads the trend of Tangqi fashion, and shows the leisure side.
Tangqi Ancient Town Scenic Area, in May, 2014, was approved as a national 4A level scenic spots. The Grand Canal of China, in 22nd June, 2014, was officially included in the World Heritage List. Presently, the scenic area has transformed into a tourism complex with tourism shopping, folk customs experience, leisure food and beverage, attracting millions of tourists every year, and has become a new hot spot of ancient town tourism in the Yangtze River delta.
