Zhejiang University, located in Hangzhou, China’s famous historical and cultural city and the scenic tourist resort, is an institution of higher education with a long history and a high reputation. Zhejiang University originates from Qiushi Academy which is founded in 1897 and is one of the oldest institutions of higher education established by Chinese. In 1928, it was renamed National Zhejiang University. During anti-Japanese war, Zhejiang University, the whole school, moved to the west and rooted in Zunyi and Meitan of Guizhou for 7 years. In autumn of 1946, it moved back to Hangzhou. During the adjustment of colleges and departments of national institution of higher education in 1952, the main part of Zhejiang University was divided into many single-science institutions that then respectively developed into original Zhejiang University, Hangzhou University, Zhejiang Agricultural University (known as Zhejiang A&F University) and Zhejiang Medical University. In 1998, the four schools with a common root realized combination to establish the new Zhejiang University, thus stepping onto the new journey to establish the world-class university. At present, the University possesses 7 campuses in Zijingang, Yuquan, Xixi, Huajiachi, Zhijiang, Zhoushan and Haining.
During the past 110 years or so, Zhejiang University has always taken “train excellent talents, promote scientific and technological progress, serve social development, carry forward advanced culture” as its own duty and gradually formed the fine tradition taking “Seek Truth and Be Creative” as its motto.
