Anytime walking down this street, you will see cultural relics and meet the history. The fragrance of the culture of Republic of China is soaking in every leave and every brick along the street. Being called “a fenceless museum”, 2,600m-long Beishan Street starts from Broken Bridge in the east and reaches Shuguang Road in the west.
A building with exquisite arch named Pu Ti Jing She (Bodhi Vihara) is located at No.45, Beishan Street. This name might remind you of Buddhism. In fact, the two have nothing to do with each other. Pu Ti Jing She was built by 24 business celebrities, including GAN Ren, in 1926. Most of them are Zhejiang merchants who were running business in Shanghai.
Walking along the fence, you will see the third main building of Xinxin Hotel – Qiushui Villa. Just as many people might think, “Qiushui” comes from the name of a lady – the former hostess SHEN Qiushui.
