Yanglingzi school is located in the bank of beautiful Qiantang River. It, covering an area of 20 mu, is the largest education school for mentally retarded children in Zhejiang Province with a building area of more than 8,600m². Persisting in the school-running concept of “Respect life, Educate people with love” and taking the cultivation of “Happiness, Health, Hope” for mentally retarded students as school-running objective, the school, based on new idea for special education development, explores new concept of special education development and makes efforts to provide the mentally retarded children with educational environment free of all obstacles and equitable development opportunity so as to make every mentally retarded child get full development.

The school has formed the serialized longitudinal educational pattern of “education, rehabilitation and employment” integrating preprimary education - nine-year compulsory education - vocational education and horizontal educational system integrating educational rehabilitation, training rehabilitation, vocational rehabilitation and social rehabilitation into a whole, exploring a successful way for mentally retarded education with a strong characteristic of Zhejiang. It now has become one of the experimental bases “combining medicine and education” of the first batch of national special education school of Ministry of Education of the PRC.
